Fred Reinfeld says, "The best advice on discovered check
is: Avoid them! This is even more important in the case of double checks, which
often, as you will see, wind up in checkmates."
A double check forces the defending king to move
without giving the option of either taking the attacking piece or interposing.
This concept gives a tremendous advantage of gaining tempo and placing the
attacking piece especially the one that is uncovering the discovered check in
the most favourable square.
The first of the four master games illustrates the
effect of discovered double check where the defending pieces are made to look
like spectators. While the remaining three games are simple discovered check
type, we are looking for games with double check. When you come across any
such game, please email to us in pgn format. Thanks Back to Tactics page
